About

The aim of the Living Churchyard project is to create a space for wildlife and the community in the heart of the Piddle Valley. We run community surveys throughout the year from listening to the dawn chorus in spring, through butterfly and moth surveys in mid-summer, to watching for bats.

We have also created a more wildlife friendly space together including a variety of bird and bat boxes, a bug hotel and hedgehog home and a small pond. We welcome more ideas and involvement from the community.

If you want to get involved, please just drop in to one of our events.

What's in the churchyard?

We are now well into the year now and the sun is finally starting to shine!  If you enter the churchyard you will see that due to the wet weather the grass has continued to grow. As our long term gardener is starting to step down, we are looking for new blood to help out, even if just for one session a year - every little helps!

Save the Date

This Saturday we are opening the moth traps to see what we find. Come along 9.30am for the morning or just pop in for 5 minutes to see what is going on.

Moths are important pollinators that fly both at night and during the day. They are also an important food source for the birds and bats that visit the churchyard.
